French itinerary: our advices – Part 2

For the second part of the itinerary, we move to the south of France, in the famous and luxurious area of French Riviera (Côte d’Azur).

Nice, Cannes and Monaco – Monte Carlo represent an experience of sun, sea, exclusivity and – if you would like to try it – also some funny “VIP watching”!

Typical of Nice is the Promenade des Anglais, classy seafront characterized by the “blue chairs” (chaises bleues) where to sit and deeply breathe the sea breeze. Place Massena is very interesting too: on the white and black floor took place seven statues (that become colored during the evening) from the Spanish artist Jaume Plensa.

More and more: Place Garibaldi, Hotel Negresco, Galeries Lafayette, antiquities’ markets… everything contributes to create an original atmosphere!

Cannes is to visit during the Movie Festival – in May – as we decided to do. The city transforms from a sophisticated, calm holiday location to a vibrant, dynamic one, ready to welcome many international guests. Nonstop parties, while waiting to discover which of the movies in competition will win the Golden Palm.

Monaco, especially with its neighborhood of Montecarlo, is the quintessence of Jet Set: several motorboats float on the placid water of the port, while the huge yachts of the billionaires stay a little bit far from the coast.

Among excellent boutiques, the legendary Casino, the Hotel de Paris, sport cars parked all around, the Formula 1, the royal palace and the oceanographic museum… it’s almost impossible to choose which picture to take as first!

Our suggestion, in the end, is a little “gem” that we personally love: “Fragonard”, in Grasse since 1782, is a factory/museum to extract and refine the perfumery’s essences. In the end of the tour, shopping is obliged at the official store. Vanilla, amber, rose, iris, jasmine… will reveal their intimate secrets!
